I’m Espen Artio (they/them). I am a queer, nonbinary folk magic practitioner, mystic, herbalist, and witch. The land I live on is the beautiful salty rainforested land of the red cedar, thimbleberry, and salal; the territory of the Duwamish and Coast Salish people, known as Seattle.

I am a devotee and priestess, in service to the sacred work of the Witch. Witnessing the great unfolding and tending of The Mystery is at the heart of this work and my craft.

This great Mystery unfolds through Earth—I am an animist and have worked with the plant folk in herbal medicine, permaculture, spirit work, organic farming, conservation, and home gardening, and am deeply devoted to tending the land and the Other Than Human. This vein of communion, connection, and honoring of the living world around us provides a foundation of earth-honoring that holds all my searching and teaching.

I have studied and been initiated into various spiritual and energetic modalities, blending my backgrounds in earth honoring traditions, energy healing, herbalism, folk magic, traditional witchcraft, naturalist studies, and trauma magic as the foundations of my personal gnosis and work in the world.

Being a person of European descent, I seek to learn about and practice the folkways of my ancestors, both to reconnect & reclaim ancestral magic as well as to build a foundation of spiritual accountability to the many harms caused by white supremacy and colonialism.

My work is rooted in the honoring of queer ancestral futures, made new through accountability and honor, and in service to the nourishing forces of love and liberation.
